BOSSES have banned hand and tea towels at a police station because of cutbacks.
Calum Steele, who represents rank and file officers, yesterday shared messages from whistleblowers on social media.
The Scottish Police Federation general secretary posted a partially redacted email from a colleague that read: “… Police Office – no longer allowed to use tea or hand towels due to cost of washing/cleaning them.”

Steele also shared other examples of cuts, including an incident in the north-east when a search for a balaclava-clad prowler had to be abandoned to avoid racking up overtime. Scottish Labour justice spokeswoman Claire Baker said the claims showed “the force is at breaking point under the SNP’s watch”.
A Scottish Government spokeswoman said they were “committed to protecting the police revenue budget in real terms for the entirety of this Parliament”.
