POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the death of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the A9.
Emergency services attended the the crash, near Dornoch, in the early hours of Monday morning but they found Noel Gilbert had died as a result of his injuries.
Mr Gilbert was 49 years old and from Inverness .
After the incident, the road was closed for 12 hours.
As part of their investigation, officers are now looking to trace a man who was dressed in dark clothing and seen near the scene.
They are asking anyone who saw the male, in the area of Embo, Dornoch, Camore or the A9 between 945pm on Sunday and 230am on Monday to contact police .
