Super Scarecrow Street organisers have put together a challenge pack of materials to make scarecrows including straw, stakes and slats and an information leaflet.
Bothwell Scarecrow Festival chairman Harry Marsh said last week: “At the moment we have six entrants to the competition but we’d welcome more.

“We need a lot of scarecrows to keep the festival going from strength to strength.
“Entrants can be from a whole street, part of a street or a community group.
“We’d encourage villagers of all ages to get involved in this year’s competition. “

There will be three joint winners of this year’s competition. Each will receive a hamper as a prize. Last year’s winner was Kirklands Crescent.

Bothwell Scarecrow Festival runs from September 3 to 11. Other attractions include the grand scarecrow parade on the final day of the festival; Scarecrow Champions League and a scarecrow hunt.
