A thug left a man needing nine stitches with a punch to the face.
Michael Jameson attacked Morgan Bilham outside Pebbles nightclub in Troon in September.
When Mr Bilham heard a group of men making a rumpus outside the club he tried to calm the situation down.
But for his efforts, he got a punch to the right side of the face at 2.30am.
Depute fiscal Mhairi Mair told Ayr Sheriff Court last week: “He became aware that he was bleeding heavily.”
Mr Bilham, 21, was rushed to A&E, where he received nine stitches.
Jameson, 23, was identifiied as the culprit from CCTV. Lawyer Iain Gillies, defending, described him as a remorseful first offender who was “very intoxicated” at the time.
Jameson, of Irvine, was ordered to pay Mr Bilham £500 and fined £300.
