Black Eyed Peas have made a brave decision to release a totally revamped version of their iconic hit Where Is The Love? with a host of famous faces.
Will.i.am is joined by bandmates apl.de.ap and Taboo for the new take on their 2003 classic tune, while a who’s who of Hollywood, reality TV and the music industry get involved.
Released in response to months of terror attacks, mass shootings and more, the group’s moving song feels just as relevant more than a decade on.
Guest vocals are provided by Mary J. Blige, Nicole Scherzinger , Usher, Justin Timberlake , Jamie Foxx, The Game, Jessie J, Diddy, Andra Day, DJ Khaled, Tori Kelly, Jaden Smith, A$AP Rocky and Ty Dolla $ign.
As well as the new version and mix of the song – which features updated lyrics to reflect on the state of the world in 2016 – a darker video has also been unveiled.
Kendall Jenner is amongst the big names to appear in the emotional clip, while the single will raise funds for The Voice judge Will’s i.am.angel foundation.
Fan response has been mixed after the release of the track, with many loving it, including one who tweeted: “The black eyed peas remake of where is the love is absolutely amazing (sic)”
Another added: “The Black Eyed Peas new version of Where Is The Love gives me chills everytime I listen to it. (sic)”
Others weren’t quite so keen, with many not impressed with the new lyrics, produced vocals and dark video.
“Dear The Black Eyed Peas, there was nothing wrong with the original ‘Where Is The Love?,’ ” wrote a user.
