HILLARY Clinton has suspended her Presidential campaign as she battles to recover from pneumonia.
The Democratic nominee cancelled a two-day trip to California.
On Sunday, she was forced to leave a 9/11 memorial after appearing to faint.
As concerns grow over her ability to lead the US, bookmakers slashed the odds of her rival Donald Trump being elected.
Following her “medical episode” at Ground Zero, where she was seen being held up by her aides after nearly collapsing, her physician said she had pneumonia.
Dr Lisa Bardack said the 68-year-old was now recovering at her home in Chappaqua, New York.
She addedd: “Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies.
“On Friday, during follow-up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia.
“She was put on antibiotics and advised to rest and modify her schedule.”
Clinton was advised to scale back her schedule so she cancelled a trip to the west coast.
She had been due to attend fundraisers and tape an episode of Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show.
Her rival Donald Trump said yesterday that the candidates’ health was now an issue in the forthcoming elections.
Trump said he would be releasing detailed health information.
He said: “I just hope she gets well and gets back on the trail and we’ll be seeing her in the debate.”
Asked if the health of the candidates was an issue, he said: “I think it’s an issue. In fact this last week I took a physical and when the numbers come in I’ll be releasing very specific numbers.”
Clinton had shown signs of being unwell last week.
At an event on September 5, America’s Labor Day bank holiday, she broke out in a coughing fit during a speech in Ohio.
At the time she joked: “Every time I think about Trump I get allergic.”
Bookmakers have now slashed Trump’s odds to the lowest he has ever been for the Presidency.
Ladbrokes have seen Clinton’s odds drift out to 4-7 from 4-9, while the billionaire’s have shortened from 7-4 to 6-4.
