Aberdeen airport flights cancelled and delayed after hole discovered on runway

PASSENGERS at Aberdeen airport experienced delays tonight – after a hole was found on the runway.

Several flights were cancelled and held up as a result of the problem, which was discovered at 5pm.

Among the arrivals cancelled were flights from Kirkwall, Manchester and Birmingham.

Departures to these destinations were also axed as well as flights to London City, Bergen and Paris. Arrivals from Heathrow, Birmingham, Copenhagen and Wick were delayed.

The airport said: “We are experiencing disruption to services due to damage to a small section of tarmac at the south end of the runway.

“We would advise passengers to check with their airline before travelling to the airport.”
