GORDON STRACHAN today refused point blank to answer any questions about disgraced England manager Sam Allardyce.
The Scotland boss was speaking at a press conference to announce his squad for the upcoming World Cup 2018 ties against Lithuania and Slovakia and was clearly keen to avoid getting involved in England’s woes.
You could see Strachan bristle as a journalist chanced his arm, starting his question with, “In terms of the Allardyce affair…”
Brushing off an intervention from the sidelines from someone trying to shield the manager from the question, Strachan indicated he would deal with it.
“It’s all right, it’s okay,” he said.
When asked about how this impacted on football’s reputation, Strachan gave the journo short shrift as he sharply sidestepped the issue.
He said: “Thank you very much for that disguised question. But, again, here we are, Lithuania versus Slovakia. Really delighted to have this squad together.’
The Scotland boss remains as nimble off the pitch as he was in his playing days.
