The two candidates couldn’t be more different – and the polls have never been closer.

Questions over Hillary Clinton’s health have dogged her campaign in recent weeks, after she admitted a diagnosis of pneumonia.

She’ll be hoping Donald Trump will seem oafish and unpresidential during the debate – which will be the first time many Americans will see him talking politics for an extended period of time.

But the Donald is nothing if not a showman – will his brash, reality TV style impress floating voters enough to choose him for Commander in Chief?

Here’s everything you need to know about the US Presidential and Vice Presidential debates, and how you can watch them in the UK.

When are the debates?

Monday September 26 – Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York

The debate calendar started on Monday night, with a fiery face-off between the two candidates on NBC.

It was hosted by NBC Nightly News Anchor Lester Holt.

Tuesday October 4 – Vice Presidential Debate – Longwood University, Farmville, Virginia

The only debate between vice presidential hopefuls Tim Kaine (Clinton) and Mike Pence (Trump).

They will speak for 90 minutes, covering topics in nine segments of 10 minutes each.

It will be moderated by CBSN anchor Elaine Quijano.

Sunday October 9 – Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri

The final clash between the two presidential candidates.

The format will be the same as the first debate.

It will be moderated by Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace.

The debates all air in the US at 9pm – which is 2am UK time.

What is the format?

The presidential debates will be split into six 15-minute segments on major topics.

Each section will start with a question, and candidates have two minutes to answer.

How can I watch in the UK?

You can watch the debates live as they happen from 2am on Mirror.co.uk.

The debates will also be broadcast on the BBC News Channel, and streamed live on YouTube and Twitter.
