CELTIC’S 13-year-old sensation Karamoko Dembele has been named in the Scotland Under 16 squad for the upcoming Victory Shield.

The St Ninian’s High School pupil hit the headlines two weeks ago when he made his debut for Celtic Under 20 Development League side against Hearts.

Since then the playmaker, who also qualifies for England and Ivory Coast, has been the talk of Scottish football – and further afield – with YouTube clips of his ability going global.

Now the talented teen has been called up by his country ahead of the prestigious Victory Shield Home Nations competition which is being staged in Edinburgh.

The side contains 14 Performance School pupils and is coached by Brian Mclaughlin with James Grady also in the backroom team.

The capital’s Oriam venue will host the tournament which kicks-off on Sunday, October 30 when Scotland will take on Northern Ireland.

The young Scots then play Wales on Tuesday, November 1 and Republic of Ireland on Friday, November 4.

Dembele “didn’t look out of place and played his part in the closing stages”, according to Celtic’s website
