PARTICK THISTLE boss Alan Archibald has moved to “put to bed” talk of him taking over at Shrewsbury Town.
The Shrews, bottom of League One, have been without a gaffer since Micky Mellon left to take over at Tranmere Rovers and made contact with Thistle earlier in the week.
But Archibald insists he has held no talks with the Shropshire club who are reportedly looking to have a new gaffer in place before Saturday.
Pressed on the subject today, Archibald said: “Clubs have been in contact but I’ve not had talks. That’s it put to bed now.”

Shrewsbury’s attention turned north of the border after being impressed by Archibald’s work at Firhill in recent seasons.
The 38-year-old is the longest-serving manager in the Scottish Premiership, having been in charge of the Jags since January 2013.
Archibald signed a new contract in May that tied him to the Firhill club until 2019.

If Shrewsbury do decide to follow up on their interest in him they will have to pay Thistle compensation.
The former Jags defender guided them to promotion to the top flight in his first season after replacing Jackie McNamara at the helm.
He has led Thistle to 10th, eighth and ninth in the table in the last three seasons, although they now sit second bottom.
