SIX years ago, Steven Brown was working as a manager at a fast-food restaurant, dreaming of the day when he could make a living pursuing his passion – art.
Today, he has enjoyed the kind of success most artists could only dream of after his distinctive, multi-coloured designs captured the public’s imagination.
Steven, from Irvine, in Ayrshire, turned his hobby into a career after suffering a heart attack in 2010.
The dad-of-three had to take time off to recuperate and he passed his hours at home painting. He put 15 of his bright and colourful works, which often depict animals, online and never looked back.
One of Steven’s most popular creations is his Highland “McCoo” which cuts a striking, vibrant image with its many varied colours. The original McCoo has now grown into a family of cows, who are joined in his portfolio of work by an array of other animals.
And Steven now sells more than 80 frames a week, along with homewares and accessories featuring his most popular designs.
