ARMED police attended an incident in Clydebank tonight.
Officers raced to Montrose Street following reports that a man with a knife was involved in a disturbance.
Residents were told to remain indoors and a section of the usually busy street was cordoned off.
The incident was brought to a close by officers stationed in the local police station near the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “About 8.30 pm on Wednesday 16 November 2016, a report was received of a disturbance at a property on Montrose Street, Clydebank.
“Local officers attended and were confronted by a man in possession of a knife.
“Armed officers were dispatched to assist, however prior to their arrival the man was detained and is now in police custody.”
