It’s become one of the most gripping series on TV – and viewers can’t get enough.

With the series finale of The Missing looming, many fans are looking forward to all their questions finally being answered once and for all.

With so many loose ends to tie up – here’s a look at the biggest revelations set to happen tomorrow:

*WARNING: Contains spoilers*

1. If Sophie AND Alice are still alive, then whose body was in the shed?

It was the shocker at the end of the penultimate episode that many viewers didn’t see coming.

Alice is STILL alive, probably explaining why there was a second locked bedroom in Adam Gettrick’s house.

That still leaves the question about whose body WAS discovered in the Webster’s family garden shed.

Viewers are desperate to know the truth

Her family were told that the DNA matched Alice’s, but could it be the third girl in the rollercoaster, Lena Garber?

The bird pendant found on the charred corpse did look worryingly like the one Lena was pictured wearing on Der Werewolf rollercoaster in those German theme park pictures.

Plus, Sophie was seen tossing Lena’s distinct red glasses on the fire at her present-day cabin hideaway in Switzerland.

So, presumably, she’s not going to have much call for them anymore. But what about the DNA?

2. Is someone still covering for Adam Gettrick?

The flashback to 1991 in Iraq appears to have cleared Brigadier Stone from being involved in the kidnapping of girls. A young nine-year-old girl was killed in Iraq after a blunder.

But how was Gettrick able to keep control over Stone and Reed and keep them quiet, even when they outranked him in the army?

The Missing
Fans have lots of unanswered questions

Even if he threatened to reveal what really happened in Iraq, surely they would have the power and influence to have exposed him via different means?

Remember as well the story about the turtle who “cracked his shell into a million pieces” he told Sophie in episode two? How has he been involved?

We also don’t know why Sophie put flowers on Reed’s grave? Did he know about the kidnapping but kept it covered up too?

3. Will be Julien be able to solve the case before his time runs out?

The detective seems to be edging closer to death every week as his brain tumour takes hold.

Last night his wife travelled from France to try and persuade him to come home, but he told her about not going for his brain operation was not about him.

Will the case be solved?

He told her: “I wasn’t walking away from anything, I was walking towards something else, towards some kind of resolution for two little girls whose lives were stolen from them.

” I was walking towards something I thought was bigger than myself.”

But it is now a race against time to catch Gettrick and find the girls. Julien has discovered the basement in Gettrick’s house, so hopefully it will hold the clues he needs.

Gettrick left quickly without money so he must have had to use his credit card to buy the monkey for Alice. Hopefully enough clues for the case to be solved in time. Fans of the show are definitely hoping this is the case.

4. Why did Sophie Giroux go to live with the Websters?

It was a big gamble sending her to live with the Websters and try to pass herself off as Alice, so why did Gettrick allow it?

Maybe it was because she needed hospital treatment and they didn’t want anyone delving into her true identity?

Have you put the clues together?

The girls have obviously been to public places before, the rollercoaster ride picture shows that, but why did he take the risk of passing one girl off as the other?

5. Does Sophie really love Adam?

Is it Stockholm Syndrome, or is it all part of her plan to get her and daughter Lucy away from the evil kidnapper?

Is she just biding her time and making sure her daughter is safe before getting away from him?

She obviously felt guilty for fitting up the butcher Herz as she asked her ‘brother’ to apologise to him and she put flowers on Reed’s grave.

Maybe she is not so much in his power as he thinks she is.

6. So who is the bloke Baptiste keeps imagining is following him?

We still don’t know, but clearly he isn’t real though.

One of our favourite crackpot theories on Twitter is that he’s the doctor who’s actually operating on Baptiste’s tumour, bleeding through into his subconscious.

The Missing
Who is ‘following’ Baptiste?

Which, of course, would mean this whole series has actually been one long flashback – feverishly recalled by the French detective while anaesthetized and undergoing surgery.

All of which is a bit too close to Pam Ewing finding out she dreamt up an entire season of Dallas after waking to find her supposedly dead hubby Bobby soaping himself in the en-suite shower.

7. Alice/Sophie’s cobweb tattoo has to mean something doesn’t it?

Both the beauty and infuriating nature of The Missing is to throw a multitude of red herrings into the mix.

Remember, series one led us to believe little Ollie Hughes had been snatched by a paedo child trafficking ring, when, in reality, he’d been hit by a drunk driver after chasing a fox.

The Missing
Fans will know everything next week

The reason we mention the tattoo is because a LOT was made of it in the first episode – it was primarily how Sophie managed to pass herself off as the long lost Alice.

Yet no mention of it has been made since, or any explanation given as to the significance of the design.

And, being a naturally suspicious bunch, we find that fishy.

Can’t be as simple as a play on the word ‘Webster’ can it?

8. Why has no-one noticed that Jorn is dead?

Finally, why has no-one noticed the German detective who met a grisly, power-drill ending at the hands of Gettrick is even missing?

Hopefully someone will realise before the end of next week.

The Missing finale airs on Wednesday 30 November at 9pm
