Doctor Who star David Tennant is to be the new voice of Disney’s most famous Scots character – Scrooge McDuck.
The Scottish actor is to voice the miserly star of the animation giant’s remake of kids’ series Duck Tales, due to hit screens in early 2018.
Broadchurch and Jessica Jones actor Tennant will take on the lead role of Donald’s billionaire uncle in the updated version of the nienties hit show.
The series follows the adventures of Scrooge as well as the nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, who will be played by Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan as the voices of mischief-making Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively.
The cast will be filled out by Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack.
Tennant and the rest of the team were unveiled in a new video singing a version of the series’ famous theme tune.
The part of Scrooge McDuck was made famous by Scots born but Canadian raised actor Alan Young, the star of US sitcom Mr Ed.
He first played him in Mickey’s Christmas Carol in 1983 and then in the spin-off series.
Young, who passed away in May this year, had previously told the Record how proud he was of bringing the Scots character to life.
He said: “That’s the other part that everybody writes to me about and I’m so glad people have enjoyed my work over the years.
“I feel very lucky and I’ve always been delighted to do Scottish voices.
“I’ve always loved doing Scottish things and, even though I didn’t have a Scottish accent myself, I enjoyed doing one whenever I could.”
