A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in South Ayrshire.
The 38-year-old man was struck on the A77 north of Girvan , near the junction with the B741, at about 12.30am this morning.
Emergency services attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 28-year-old woman driving the car – a Ford Focus – was uninjured.
The road was closed following the collision but it has since reopened.
Police Scotland said officers from the divisional road policing unit at Irvine are appealing for any witnesses to contact their office via the 101 number.
