Celtic goal machine Leigh Griffiths has been voted as player of the year for 2016 by the Scottish Football Supporters Association.

The 26-year-old frontman took the gong after a stunning 40 goal season for the Hoops in 2015/16.

Hearts’ Callum Paterson finished in second place, ahead of third-placed Jonny Hayes.

Meanwhile, Dons fans were crowned as the best traveling support while Tynecastle was voted as the best stadium for visiting fans to go to.

Partick Thistle also picked up the gong for best mascot, unsurprisingly, with raging sun-god Kingsley getting the acclaim.

In the goal of the year category, Souleymane Couilbaly took the award for his stunning, dipping 40-yard drive at Celtic in September.

And finally, whistle-blower Craig Thomson took the title of Scotland’s worst ref, while bizarrely finishing second in the poll to determine Scotland’s best ref.

The Scottish Football Supporters Association has almost 65,000 members and states its aim as giving the every day fan a voice in the national game in Scotland.
