Remains found near the Erskine Bridge have been confirmed as belonging to missing Clydebank man William McKenna.
The human remains were found in wooded area of Bishopton in Renfrewshire at the end of November.
However, police were only able to confirm today that they belonged to William.
He went missing back in July from his home in Dalmuir, Clydebank , and his worried family as well as police issued several appeals to try and track him down.
They were particularly concerned as William rarely went anywhere without his beloved pet dog.
The Clydebank Post reported today that the remains found in the woodland near the Erskine Bridge were those of William.
Inspector David Quinn, of Clydebank Police , said: “I would like to thank the public for their response to the missing persons enquiry.
“Understandably, William’s family are very upset at this tragic news and I would like to ask they are given the time to grieve their loss.
“Our thoughts are with them at this time.”
