Remembering when Radio 1's One Big Sunday came to Irvine

Tens of thousands of revellers filled Irvine Beach Park almost 16 years ago as the stars of the day descended on the town.

So this week we’re taking a trip down memory lane by looking back at the incredible photos from Radio 1’s One Big Sunday on July 15, 2001.

Heading up the bill on the sunny afternoon were two Welsh bands – Feeder and The Manic Street Preachers.

“Thong Song” singer Sisqo was also there alongside Oxide and Neutrino, “Heaven is a Halfpipe” singers OPM and 14-year-old rapper Lil’ Bow Wow.
