Rangers have reportedly activated the release clause of Port Vale goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.
The Valiants captain has a £250k buy-out clause which Rangers have met this afternoon.
Mark Warburton has been looking to add a goalkeeper to his squad this January to replace want-away back-up keeper Matt Gilks.
Gilks has admitted his frustration at not getting more game time at Ibrox after joining in the summer, with boss Mark Warburton admitting he would let the Scotland international leave the club if he could find a suitable replacement.
Alnwick appears to be that man, and the 21-year-old will soon hold talks on personal terms at the Light Blues.
The former Sunderland youth goalkeeper joined rivals Newcastle but he never made a first-team appearance and joined Vale in 2015.
The League One side confirmed on Twitter that they had received a bid on Friday evening.
He has made 78 appearances at Vale Park and he scooped the young player of the year award in his first season at the club.
Alnwick has been capped at both U17 and U18 level for England and is the younger brother of Bolton goalkeeper Ben.
