A man arrested in connection with the death of an amateur footballer has been liberated.
Prosecutors said a 46-year-old man detained over the death of Craig Kearney, 24, in East Kilbride on Sunday did not appear in court today.
A Crown Office spokesman confirmed he had been “liberated pending further enquiries”.
Craig died after being found with serious injuries on Lochranza Drive in the Lindsayfield area of the town in the early hours of Sunday morning.
His death was initially treated by police as unexplained while forensic investigations were carried out.
A Crown Office spokesman said: “The Procurator Fiscal received a report concerning a 46 year old male, in connection with an alleged incident in East Kilbride on March 5.
“After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, he was liberated from custody pending further inquiries and did not appear in court.”
