Court round-up: Rutherglen man fined for drug possession

A £250 fine was dished out to a Rutherglen man found in possession of drugs.

Craig Hannah was on Stonelaw Road on May 21, 2016 when he was found with class B drug cannabis resin.

Hannah, 30, of Western Avenue, admitted his guilt when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on February 28.

A drug dealer from Rutherglen has been handed a community payback order.

Damien Docherty was found in possession of diamorphine, a class A drug, with intent to supply it to others on December 17, 2015.

The 42-year-old was found with the drug on Hamilton Road and later at Cathcart Police Station.

At a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court he was further accused of failing to appear at a court diet on May 3 without reasonable excuse.

Docherty, of Hamilton Road, was handed a community payback order when he attended court on February 20.

A Rutherglen man has been handed a community payback order for hitting another male over the head with a blunt object.

David Stephen, 20, of Brownsdale Road, was charged with acting along with another person and assaulting the man, threatening him and punching and striking him with the weapon on May 31, 2015.

He pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court in January but sentence was deferred until February 21 when he was handed a community payback order and compensation order.

A man has pled guilty to banging on the door of a woman’s home while uttering threats of violence.

Derek Kirkwood placed the woman in a state of fear and alarm by repeatedly showing up at her home in the Colvend Drive area of Rutherglen between February 14 and 16 this year.

The 45-year-old, of Castlefern Road, Rutherglen, also behaved in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and swearing at his home address on February 16.

Kirkwood pled guilty to the charges against him when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on February 1. He was made to complete a community payback order when he returned to court on March 1.

A Rutherglen woman has pled guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Amy Hannah, 23, shouted, swore and uttered threats during an incident at Strathcona Place on August 2, 2015.

Her co-accused Sonya Heron, 24, is said to have committed the offence having been bailed from Glasgow Sheriff Court in 2014, while Hannah was on an undertaking to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Hannah of Strathcona Place, pled guilty to the offence when she appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on February 15 and was fined £250.

Heron’s case was not called.

A motorist who was allegedly behind the wheel while almost five times the legal alcohol limit has been found not guilty.

Stephen Hampton, from King’s Park, was charged with driving on Mavisbank Gardens, Glasgow, on October 31, 2015, when the proportion of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath was 101.

The legal limit is 22 millilitres.

Hampton, 42, of Curtis Avenue, denied drink driving when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on July 12 and was cleared on February 6.
