A boozed-up Chapelhall woman who got behind the wheel while seven times over the drink-drive limit – and drove dangerously in a “built-up residential area” – has narrowly avoided a prison sentence.
Reckless Carol Molloy had 154 microgrammes of alcohol in her breath when she took her car out on March 9 – the limit being 22.
Molloy risked harm to herself and other motorists by driving dangerously on her home street, Glen Affric Way, and nearby Bo’ness Road.
The thoughtless 39-year-old collided with the rear of another car – causing damage to both vehicles – and continued to drive “erratically”, repeatedly struck a kerb and swerved about the road.
She was eventually reported to police who pulled her car over and later carried out a breath test.

Molloy owned up to her irresponsible actions and a period of deferral followed for reports into her background.
She returned to Airdrie Sheriff Court for sentencing last Wednesday and her defence solicitor, Nicky Matteo, pleaded that “on the narrowest of margins” his client could be subject to a “non-custodial sentence”.
A visibly unimpressed Sheriff Derek O’Carroll warned Molloy a prison sentence was an option, but decided to ban her from driving for the next two years, reduced from three because of her guilty plea.
The sheriff also fined Molloy £140, down from £180.
