A Bellsmyre woman has collected almost £4000 by holding make-up masterclasses to help two global charities which support vulnerable women.
Claire McKinley, who works for beauty firm Benefit, has hosted the events over the past three years.
And this year’s masterclass was bigger and better before, with Claire moving to a larger venue to allow more women to go along.
Benefit Cosmetics’ annual charity initiative, the Bold is Beautiful Project, runs throughout April.
The campaign has raised more than £1million for Look Good Feel Better, a charity which aims to improve the self-esteem, confidence and well-being of women and teenagers dealing with the visible side-effects of cancer treatment, and Refuge, a charity supporting women and children escaping domestic violence.
For the past three years Claire, who stays in Alexandria, has annually held a masterclass in Dumbarton to support the campaign.
She said: “My masterclass has grown in attendees and every year sells out two weeks before the event.
“This year I moved the masterclass from the Brock Bowling Club to Dumbarton Golf Club so more people could attend and this also sold out two weeks before, with 100 people attending the event.
“During the evening I held make-up tutorials and we had comedian Anna Devitt doing a performance.
“On the evening we raised £3800, which was almost three times more than my first masterclass three years ago which raised £1337.
“I’m looking forward to making this event bigger and better each year.”
Claire thanked everyone who went along as well as businesses who gave to the raffle. Prizes on offer included a £100 Frasers voucher, designer sunglasses from Specsavers, a Cameron House monthly leisure pass for four and champagne cruise for two on the Celtic Warrior.
To boost the charities’ funds further there was a #RaiseABrow pop-up pink charity shop in Glasgow at the weekend.
