Former Rangers boss Ally McCoist says the gulf between Celtic and Rangers is ‘frightening’ after the Hoops thrashed their rivals 5-1.
The Ibrox hero – who was working as a pundit for Sky Sports – reckons his former side are miles behind Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Despite the one-sided defeat, McCoist believes Rangers offered more than they did in the 2-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat a week earlier.
He said: “Celtic were excellent, they are the best team in the country, by a country mile.

“They passed the ball, they could have scored more goals, they were aggressive in defence, and were creative in midfield and up front.
“That is probably as big a gulf as I’ve ever seen in an Old Firm match, and crazy as it may seem I thought Rangers’ level of performance was probably slightly better than last week.
“I think they were more aggressive, they actually forced Celtic to play better this week, that said there is nothing new, unless there is serious investment that’s the way it’s going to be for Rangers for the foreseeable future.

“The gulf, the difference in ability between the two sides is very, very frightening to watch.
McCoist also praised Celtic captain Scott Brown reckons the Hoops star is in the form of his life.
“Scott’s a great captain for Celtic, and he’s been playing exceptionally well,” he said.
“Brown has been terrific, he’s leading a team he’s very comfortable in, he’s probably playing as well this season as he has done throughout his career. “
