The first Britain’s Got Talent live show aired tonight – and eight acts gave it their all to vie for a place in the grand final.
Only two competitors were left standing after a tense semi-final, as performers gave it their best shot to impress the viewers watching at home.
For the very first time in the history of the show the two acts with the highest number of votes both got through, while the team of judges had their voting powers removed.
All of the judges predicted Kyle Tomlinson would get through, and they were joined by DNA in the next round.
Niels Harder, PC Dan, Tyrone and Mina, Empire Dance Crew and St Patrick’s Junior Choir Drumgreenagh were all sent home straight away.
Mis Treat Vibe were in the top three, but due to the change in rules did not get a chance to face the judges’ vote and were kicked out of the contest.
BGT viewers took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the results.
One viewer said: “Yes!!! Come on Kyle lad!! I’m so so happy for him! He truly deserves this break #bgt”
Another added: “GET IN KYLE!!! Come on DNA!!!! #BGT”
A third said: “DNA and Kyle smashed it tonight. Totally well-deserved. #BGT”

BGT viewers were left in tears after Kyle Tomlinson’s “astonishing” semi-final performance – which earned him the backing of all the judges.
David Walliams’ golden buzzer act took to the stage to deliver an amazing rendition of Adele’s When We Were Young.
The 15-year-old singer was hailed as being “world class” by the comedian, who previously rejected the youngster when he auditioned three years ago.
He then dedicated the performance to his granddad in hospital after receiving a standing ovation from the judges and audience.
DNA managed to blow Britain’s Got Talent viewers’ minds tonight with another hypnotising performance in the semi-final.
Andrew, 43, and Darren, 29, wowed the audience and left the judges open mouthed with their incredible live act.
The contestants claimed that they were using powers of persuasion, rather than prediction, as they correctly guessed three cards and a word on a random page of the dictionary.
However, Simon Cowell was left baffled before the big reveal even took place, as he struggled to find the correct page.
Tonight marked the start of the live shows – with eight acts taking to the stage in the first semi-final.
The contestants will be hoping to impress the viewing public and book their place into the grand final.
However, they were less concerned by what the judges thought of their performances, because a new change to the rules meant the viewing public had all the power/
Simon Cowell , Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams no longer have to decide who goes through out of the second and third ranked performers, but still have one wildcard to use.
