Scotland’s passport to the Toulon Tournament semi-finals was rubber stamped after Brazil and Czech Republic battled out a goalless draw in the final Group C game, reports Gavin Berry in France.

Scot Gemmill watched his side beat Indonesia 2-1, thanks to a Ryan Hardie double at the Stade Ladoumegue in Vitrolle, and put one foot in the last four and a mouthwatering clash with England.

The only way Scotland, who finished group runners-up, could be eliminated was if Brazil scored four or more in a single goal win over the Czechs.

It was an unlikely scenario but Gemmill, assistant Peter Grant and SFA performance director Malky Mackay took in the game to ensure there was no freak result to send them home.

Scotland now face defending champions England on Thursday in the first of two Auld Enemy clashes in three days with Gordon Strachan’s men facing their rivals at in a World Cup crunch at Hampden.

The last time Scotland were in the last four of the prestigious tournament was in 1994 when Tommy Craig’s side lost 4-0 to Brazil.

The final takes place in Aubagne on Saturday with the losers facing each other in a 3rd/4th place play off.
