Veteran broadcaster Jackie Fullerton was given a fond farewell for his last match commentary.

The Ballymena man has been the voice of native soccer for forty three years.

The Belfast Telegraph revealed that the seventy three-yr-previous wouldn’t function as a part of the BBC’s protection of the Inexperienced and White Military’s French adventures on the European Championships.

And on Saturday, Fullerton referred to as his last match; the Irish Cup Remaining between Glenavon and Linfield alongside David Jeffrey who Jackie joked was supervisor of “the membership I personal,” Ballymena United.

The BBC performed an emotional tribute to the daddy-of-three which introduced a tear to his eye and lots of took to Twitter to provide their appreciation.

Having commentated on the Northern Eire workforce for 37 years, he estimates he referred to as over one hundred matches.

Chatting with this newspaper forward of the ultimate whistle, Jackie stated he had no regrets, simply highlights.

“Commenting on the England match in 1979 (European Championship qualifier, four-zero to England) was a particular second for me,” he stated.

“As a younger footballer (he performed for Ballymena United, Cliftonville, Derry Metropolis and Crusaders) I, like many others, dreamed of enjoying at Wembley. It did not occur, however commentating was the subsequent neatest thing.”
