Eskom believes 5% pay hike provided to staff is adequate

The facility utility nevertheless says it’s nonetheless open to negotiations.

JOHANNESBURG – Eskom says though it believes a 5 % pay hike it provided to staff is adequate, it’s nonetheless open to negotiations.
 
Staff affiliated to the Nationwide Union of Mineworkers (NUM), have rejected the supply.

The union is demanding a rise of between 15 and 18 %. 
 
Wage negotiations began this week.
 
Eskom’s Khulu Phasiwe says, “So you must discover a very advantageous stability between the necessities that we at present have and a few of the wants coming from the commerce unions. So the elements in from our aspect a minimum of, we’re positive that it was a good supply.”
