Wage council seeks suggestions from public
The Nationwide Wages Council, which points annual tips on wage-associated issues, will start deliberations subsequent month, and is looking for views from the general public.
Comprising employers in addition to union and authorities representatives, the council considers elements resembling Singapore’s financial efficiency, the home and international financial outlook, and labour market circumstances earlier than making its suggestions.

Indonesian defence pressure chief honoured
Basic Gatot Nurmantyo, the commander-in-chief of the Indonesian Nationwide Defence Forces, has been conferred the distinguished Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) – or Meritorious Service Medal (Army) – by President Tony Tan Keng Yam. The award was introduced by Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen yesterday.

New Chief of Air Pressure assumes command
Brigadier-Common Mervyn Tan Wei Ming formally assumed command as the brand new Chief of Air Drive yesterday, taking up from the outgoing chief, Main-Common Hoo Cher Mou, at a Change of Command Parade at Tengah Air Base.
BG Tan joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1990.
