On this day in 2007 a bra and pair of knickers were the cause of a flood in County durham, Northumbria. After the underwear had been flushed down a toilet, it blocked a water pipe which burst and as a result the road above collapsed, causing more than £15,000 worth of damage. The road remained closed for two days while works were carried out.
