KILMARNOCK last night laughed off a joke bid from Oldham for their star striker Josh Magennis.
Rugby Park chiefs immediately booted the bid into touch as it emerged the Latics offered less than £50,000 for the Northern Ireland star.
And director Billy Bowie claimed the fans “would have shot us” if the board had accepted that bid.

Oldham are managed by former Motherwell No.2 Steve Robinson and his assistant is sacked Fir Park boss Ian Baraclough. But they’ve misjudged the climate in the league they left behind if they believe that such a low bid would be enough to convince Killie to sell the 25-year-old.
Maggenis starred at Euro 2016 for Michael O’Neill’s side as they beat all the odds in reaching the second round after a shock 2-0 win over Ukraine.

And director Bowie said: “It’s laughable. Oldham are pleading poverty and it certainly looks that way judging by their offer. As a club we are in the business of developing our players and selling them on to make money – but if we had let Josh go at that price the fans would have shot us.
“You see other players going for good prices so I can’t understand why it hasn’t been that way for Josh.
“This is a player who just a couple of months ago was playing at the European Championship finals.
“So how Oldham thought we’d entertain an offer like that is beyond belief.”
