Scottish hotels asked to stock up on Pot Noodles to capitalise on increase of Chinese tourists

SCOTTISH hoteliers are being advised to better accommodate Chinese visitors as the number of tourists from China to Scotland rockets.

In a bid to make Asian visitors feel more at home, businesses are being asked to provide dehydrated snacks such as Pot Noddles in rooms after research revealed that tourists are buying noodles from shops and heating them in kettles.

Graeme White, head of tourism with Scottish Development International told The Times: “Chinese people are coming to Scotland in increasing numbers.

“There are lots of little things businesses can do to make them feel at home.

“Providing in-room Pot Noodles is just one practical way to support Chinese guests.”

Restaurateurs are also advised to prepare signs and menus in Mandarin, and to make allowances for lateness when table bookings by considering that Chinese people are less rigid in terms of time-keeping.
