An Irvine dance teacher says she wants to spread a little Disney in her home town.
Ashley Hogg has only recently returned from travelling the world and working in the heart of the Magic Kingdom in Disneyland Paris.
The 25-year-old professional dancer is on the brink of opening her own dance school in the town, teaching a variety of disciplines.
And now the former Irvine Royal Academy pupil wants Dance, Dream and Inspire to instil a belief in students that ‘anything is possible’.
Dancing since the age of three, in 2013 Ashley secured a dream job at Disneyland Paris, performing in the magical parades for two years before spending time with two cruise line firms.
The dancer, who has a BA Honours in contemporary dance, also studied dance artistry at Reid Kerr College, before getting her degree in Newcastle in 2013.
Ashley said: “I absolutely loved my time at Disney. It felt like every day you were making little kids’ dreams come true.
“The language was a big barrier when I first went over to France, but by the time I left I was speaking pretty fluently.
“I stayed around 20 minutes away from the park and I loved living in Paris.
“I managed to learn a lot about myself when I was away from home and now I want to teach kids in my hometown.
“I wanted to open my own dance school because I followed my dream and I want other kids in the area to know that they can follow their dream too.”
The school, which will be based in Littlestane Community Hall in Lawthorn, has a launch and enrolment day planned for the end of this month.
Taking place on Sunday, January 29, from noon to 2pm, Ashley will be there to chat about classes while kids play on a bouncy castle and enjoy cake.
Classes will be in ballet, jazz, contemporary and cheer, with more disciplines being introduced as the school develops.
