Scots “King Cone” Philip Mancini has been voted Britain’s top ice cream maker for the third time.
His vanilla was voted the best in the UK in a national contest held by trade body The Ice Cream Alliance.
The title was among four won by Philip, who runs Mancini’s Ice Cream in Ayr .
He said: “I couldn’t be more delighted. The, national champion is the prize we all want to win. It is the ultimate accolade and I feel so proud to have won it for the third time.
“It takes great passion and dedication to be a success but I love it.
“I’ve been making the same vanilla ice cream all my life – it’s a simple recipe using the finest Scottish cream, milk, butter and sugar with the best Italian vanilla.
“I believe that ice cream should have a silky soft feel that melts in the mouth with flavours that light up your taste buds and it should always be served with a broad smile.”
ICA chief Zelica Carr said: “Philip continues to demonstrate what a skilled ice cream maker he is.”
